PFD Best Practices
In 2008 CSBC began approaching organizations involved in boating and asked them the following questions.
Do you agree that the above statement is a good ‘best practice’?
Can your organization support this statement or can you tell us what is your policy in regard to PFD wear?
Do you think the time is right for the federal government to incorporate the above statement into mandatory wear legislation?
Since that time, many organizations have responded with positive input about the need for lifejacket wear in small open boats. As we continue through the years, the CSBC continues to seek input from organizations and individuals for their position on this important issue. The CSBC continues to work with organizations, associations, and companies to compile their feelings on this important subject.
CSBC Position on Wear
The CSBC is in the business of promoting safe and responsible boating throughout Canada and is committed to preventing boating injuries and drownings. With this as our raison d’être, the Canadian Safe Boating Council believes that lifejackets/PFDs should be worn by any person (all ages), on board any pleasure craft (power, sail and human-powered) while underway.
