CSBC symposium 2023

2024 Annual Symposium

Whistler, B.C. | October 2024

With the successful 2023 CSBC Symposium behind us, it is time to start planning the next Symposium. Plan to join us next October at the Hilton Whistler Resort and Conference Centre in beautiful British Columbia. Previous CSBC Symposiums in Whistler have always been popular; they offer the serenity of beautiful mountain scenery, conducive to thoughtful exploration of boating safety topics and relaxed networking. At the same time, the backdrop of the stunning B.C. coast and year-round orientation to the water make marine safety top of mind, and bring extensive local expertise to discussions. Join us in Whistler to explore new perspectives and make new friends!

Participant testimonials demonstrate that CSBC Symposiums consistently hit the high water mark:

"Welcoming. Informative. Collaborative. Inspiring"

"Great Symposium – presenters, collaborative exercises, hotel, location. It really felt as though we accomplished things."

"The Coffee and Challenges session went way beyond my expectations. I left feeling there was a great value in what the two days presented and left me with."

"The lifejacket discussions were informative, along with the networking with future peers in boating safety. The simulation tour was excellent."

Join us in Whistler in 2024 for a great learning experience that will include:

  • Boating safety with a British Columbia focus
  • Sharing learning and perspectives with international experts
  • Exploring boating safety challenges and solutions in a collaborative environment
  • Learning, networking, energy, and fun!

If you live, work or recreate on, in or around cold water, we have a unique opportunity you won’t want to miss! Immediately before the Symposium, the CSBC will be hosting two in-person Cold Water Workshops, which will be held on September 23/24 (Victoria) and September 26/27 (Vancouver). They will teach participants everything they need to know about the dangers of cold water immersion and hypothermia. They will also cover self-rescue techniques as well as how to help other potentially hypothermic individuals to survive until professional help arrives.  The workshops will be facilitated by Professor Gordon Giesbrecht of the University of Manitoba who is a world-renowned expert on hypothermia and other cold injuries. The CSBC looks forward to welcoming you in Whistler in October 2024!
